Remember when I came out and my Dad was "fine with it"?

Well, turns out he's changed his mind.

The most annoying thing is, he has ridiculous reasons for not liking my homosexual status.

Here is a list of some of the things he has recently said to me:

• "You're just ruining your life before it's even started in my opinion." - Yes, because having a gay lifestyle means your life is ruined. Just because it's not how you live, doesn't mean some people don't enjoy it.
• "If I find out someone's influenced you, I'll stab them. I don't care who it is." - Okay, a) You wouldn't stab anyone. In fact, you wouldn't touch someone gay: you're a fucking coward. And b) No one influenced me to be gay. Actually, that is the most absurd thing I've ever heard.
• "I don't think you're gay. I think you say you are because your friends are. You're doing it to be fashionable." - Yes Father, I also dye my hair ginger because my friend has ginger hair. (Sarcasm, by the way.) And fashionable? Yeah, constantly having homophobic comments hurled at me and people like me is extremely fashionable. Douche.
• "You can't tell anyone in our town. You won't even be able to walk down the street." - I don't know how you haven't noticed that around 30% of our town's population is gay or bisexual. And also, everyone in Tuxford already knows I'm a raging dyke and not once have I felt insecure whilst walking down the street.

There are other things he's said, but those are a few of the most recent ones. Ridiculous, right?

However, I have an awesome Mother who accepts me for who I am. I love her.

The motto of the story? Don't let anyone tell you who or what to be. Be yourself, always.

Melissa Etheridge splits up with her girlfriend

Okay, okay, I get that they were 'married' and I should have put 'wife' in the title, but you know how the American marriage system sucks for gay people? Yeah. That's why I didn't.

You may be thinking 'why do I care about these 2?'

Well, a) Melissa Etheridge is a folk singin', toe tappin' Queen and b) these pair were generally one of the most high profile lesbian couples around.

According to Tammy Lynn Michaels' (Etheridge's now ex-girlfriend) blog, the two have been on

the rock since January.

Huh! Who'd have thought it?

Anyway, it seems as though there's no official reason for their break-up as of yet, but the couple were together for 9 years and 'married' for a further 2. They also had twins, carried by Michaels, and Etheridge overcame cancer during their relationship.

Doesn't it suck when 2 people who seem like the happiest couple in the world actually aren't?

Gay? Over 18? Live in the UK?

It's election time!

I understand that many of you will be long-time supporters of the Conservative party.

If LGBT issues are really important to you, you would vote Labour simply because of the statistics shown in these pie charts.

You'll notice that the Liberal Democrats also do quite well in the charts, but honestly, if you're from the UK, you know they're never going to win. Especially this time round.

UPDATE: I understand now, upon reflection, that saying the Liberal Democrats will not win was really quite anti-change of me. However, I simply meant to state that I feel that we need to start with the easier things (getting Labour into power) than the harder things (the extremely hard task of getting the Lib Dems to the top). One day, I'd love to see them take over, I swear! For now, I'm just concentrating on keeping the Conservatives OUT!

So please, please vote the Labour in this election. They're our best shot at equality.
